The Martin Grade - The Heart of the Treasure Coast Greenway

MARY DAWSON   -  Chair of the Board of Directors

 Mary Dawson is a former Martin County Commissioner and the author of The Best Laid Plans: The Rise and Fall of Growth Management in Florida , which was published in Florida State University ’s Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law (1996).

 In 2004, as Director of Friends of Martin County, Mary was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to represent Martin County’s Conservation Community on the Committee for a Sustainable Treasure Coast . 

 

During her tenure which ended in September 2005, Mary served on both the Natural Systems and Rural lands Subcommittees.  She currently serves as a Director of Sustainable Treasure Coast, Inc., which is forwarding the mission of the CSTC.

 

As Martin County Commissioner from 1988-1992, Mary played a key role in the adoption of the Martin County Comprehensive Growth Management Plan.   She also served on the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council and helped establish and served on the inaugural boards of Martin County ’s Economic Development Board and Children’s Services Council.

 

In 1982, Mary was a member of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee to Martin County’s first Comprehensive Plan.

 

Mary graduated Suma Cum Laude from NOVA Law School in 1998 and is currently employed as a Senior Attorney for the State of Florida ’s 4th District Court of Appeals.
